En esta tesis doctoral se aborda un estudio descriptivo de las traducciones censuradas en el cine y la novela del Oeste durante la dictadura franquista (1939-1975). La elección de dicho tema se ha realizado debido a la gran demanda que este género del Oeste tuvo en España tanto en el cine como en la literatura de esa época. El estudio, enmarcado en el proyecto de investigación denominado TRACE, acrónimo de Traducciones Censuradas Inglés-Español (TRACE), investigará el papel desempeñado por la censura en el cine y la novela del Oeste, además de contrastar su incidencia en ambas manifestaciones del género.
This doctoral thesis provides a descriptive study of censored translations of novels and films of Westerns during Franco’s dictatorship (1939-1975). Choice of this theme was made due to the great demand in Spain for the Western in both narrative and film in this period. The investigation forms part of the research project TRACE, the acronym for Translations Censored in English and Spanish. The study will explore the role played by censorship in the narrative and films of the West, and contrast the incidence of censorship in both forms of the genre.
