Our research team was created and funded in 1999 by the University of the Basque Country and the Basque Country Government. In the period 1999-2012, we obtained several research grants to develop our main topics of interest, which include:
- Emotions, coping and regulation, health and well-being - Research carried out concerned: a) coping and breast cancer, b) alexithymia and coping, c) emotional intelligence and coping, c) social support, stress and adjustment, d) psychosocial factors of individual and psychosocial well-being.
- Attitudes, social representations and behavior – Research regarded: a) beliefs and alcohol consumption, b) beliefs, attitudes, memory and behavior concerning AIDS, c) beliefs, attitudes and sexual behavior, d) attitude change, persuasion and beliefs.
- Social factors of emotional processes and emotional climate – Studies were performed on: a) emotional climate and collective behaviour in Chile 1973-1989; b) emotional climate and socio-cultural factors, c) emotional climate, political trauma and collective coping, in the case of Guatemala genocide and in the case of Madrid March Eleven bombing, d) social sharing, affect regulation, social integration and cohesion.
- Social factors, social identity and processes of collective memory – Research was performed on remembering political trauma, such as the Spanish Civil War, the Portuguese colonial war and military dictatorships in Latin America
- Social factors of attitudes towards and adjustment to migration, including crisis intervention and evaluation with migrants.
- Culture, values and organizations, including the evaluation of quality and relationships between teamwork, values and performance.
- Norms, cultures and social control - Studies concerned: a) the subjective group's dynamic or antecedents and consequences of rejection and dergoation in-group deviants, b) medtiational processses related to social identity, social emotions, values and norms, and rituals of punition and reward, c) culture and uxoricide.
