Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

Author Guidelines

ORIGINAL PAPERS:

Please submit your paper to THEORIA through our online system following the links above.

The OJS works best with web browsers other than Internet Explorer. If you need help at any point, email us: theoria@ehu.es

Here are the instructions. Print them so you can follow them at each stage in the process.

Once you obtain your username and password, log in and click "Author". Then "Start a new submission" in five steps.

Step 1. Starting the Submission

A checklist to make sure that your paper is ready for submission.

Step 2. Entering the Submission's Metadata

Please enter here all the metadata that will identify your paper. You do not have to fill in all the fields (only those marked with a star *), but the more complete the information you provide, the easier it will be to index your paper once it gets published. If your paper is in Spanish, use the Spanish title and abstract.

Step 3. Uploading the Submission

Upload here a PDF version (.pdf) prepared for anonymous refereeing, with all the identifying information removed.

Step 4. Uploading Supplementary Files

Upload here a Rich Text Format (.rtf) or Microsoft Word (.doc) version, including the author's name and institutional address.

Step 5. Confirming the Submission

Click on the "Finish Submission" button to send us your paper. You will receive an email acknowledgement, confirming that the paper has been received, and you will be able to track its course through the system.

Once your paper is accepted, we will request a final version with further specifications.

LaTeX

If you make a significant use of mathematical notation in your paper, THEORIA encourages the use of LaTeX: once your paper is accepted, please request our style files and instructions. An anonymized pdf will do for the submission.

BOOK REVIEWS:

THEORIA does not usually publish unsolicited reviews. However, if you would like to become a reviewer or have suggestions about books to be reviewed, please send us an email to theoria@ehu.es.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. Wordcount: Papers published in THEORIA do not exceed 10,000 words including abstract, footnotes, and references.

2. Abstract: Up to 100 words. If your paper is in Spanish, you will have to submit an English summary  with the final version.

3. Keywords: A brief list of keywords. If your paper is in Spanish, you will have to submit English keywords with the final version

4. Notes: Use only footnotes. Include as many in-text citations as possible.

5. References: Once your paper has been accepted, you will have to format your references following the Turabian style, as defined in Zotero, the free citation manager. Use the author-date Turabian version defined here or, in detail, here: we use the parenthetical citation [P] and the reference list entry [R]). If you are using a different reference manager, please let us know at the stage of copyediting.

6. Duplicate publication: We have a strict policy of avoiding duplicate publication. In particular, we do not consider for publication Spanish versions of papers already published in English.

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
