Rogers" Subject: White spots in SEB Hi everyone, Recently observers have noticed new bright white spots f. the GRS. This is a typical revival/extension of the post-GRS disturbance, but an especially well-observed example. Inspecting the images shows that it developed as follows. The new w.s. first appeared on April 14, very small, at L2 = 146. It appeared within a dark spot or streak on the S edge of the SEBZ (just like an example which I described in Voyager images). But it did not become bright or noticeable until April 16, L2 ~ 144. It did not expand until April 19, then developed a classic teardrop shape over the next few days. A second spot appears (very small) on April 23, brightens by April 26, then expands likewise. A third w.s appears at L2 ~ 146 on May 3, brightens on May 5, then expands likewise. Meanwhile, jetstream spots were running around the RSH, May 3-10. Best wishes, John _____________________________ John H. Rogers, Ph.D. Jupiter Section Director, British Astronomical Association.
