> From drclay@arksky.org Fri Jan 3 03:13 MST 2003 From: "Clay Sherrod" Subject: ASO Jupiter Patrol - Jan. 3, 2003 Date: Fri, 3 Jan 2003 04:11:25 -0600 Some nice views of the areas in and around the GRS; note particularly the STC white spots and their interactions as well as the SEB fol. the GRS....there is some nice interaction of the SEBs. and the following "point" of the GRS. In my opinion we are at the beginning of a fairly substantial outbreak within the SEBzone...note in addition to the large open convection activity a new dark spot that is approaching the CM in the latter image. jup03_0103a http://www.arksky.org/asoimg/jup03_0103a.jpg Jupiter in steady skies. Note the northern edge of the GRS and its hollow, fol. end, and what appears to be a series of small dusky spots which are overriding the GRS along with the very dark festoon emanating from the s. edge of the SEB and seemingly merging with the southern perimeter of the GRS hollow. Nice spot interaction due So. of GRS as well as throughout STC. **SEB appears to be in a full-blown disturbance in longitudes fol. the GRS. jup03_0103b http://www.arksky.org/asoimg/jup03_0103b.jpg Fair conditions; note the darkening and thickening of the STB in longitudes fol. the GRS; SEBs festoon on fol. edge of GRS hollow is very pronounced as is what appears to be a small white spot within the hollow at the following "point" of the GRS. STC white spots are well shown as is NEB barge B-4 near CM. Note the dark spot that is approaching the CM within the northern part of the SEBzone. Clay ---------------------------------------- Dr. P.
