Date: Mon, 24 Sep 2001 20:21:03 +0100 From: John Rogers Subject: Colour on Jupiter Hi all, The first colour images of this apparition, by Ikemura and Cidadao and Akutsu, show the NEB is broad and reddish, as expected; and also a pale yellow colour in the EZ(N). This looks like the start of an EZ coloration episode and it will be interesting to see how it progresses. Akutsu's UV images confirm the EZ(N) is darker. Visual colour impressions as well as multispectral CCD images will be of interest. Here are montages of the recent images which show the slight colour in the EZ(N). Best wishes, John H.
