Scope and Format
The exponential publication record during last 20 years shows that the magnetic shape memory science and the development of the Ferromagnetic shape memory alloys (FSMAs) may be counted as a well-established interdisciplinary research field in smart materials and solid state physics. The first International Conference on FSMAs (ICFSMA-07) launched successfully in Kolkata, India, evoked a general interest in placing such a forum on a regular basis.
The aim of the conference is to generate an overview of world-wide R&D in the field of magnetic shape memory alloys and related phenomena. Emphasis will be given to the role of these materials in fundamental studies and their relevance in modern new technologies. ICFSMA'09 provides an excellent opportunity to bring together scientists and engineers from universities, research institutes and industry to present and discuss their most recent results covering both fundamental and applied aspects FSMA's as well as to identify future collaborations.

Publication
Proceedings will be published in the periodical journal ?Materials Science Forum?. Only papers and posters presented at the Conference will be considered for publication in the Conference Proceedings.
The general instructions for manuscript preparation can be found on the WEB (http://www.ttp.net/Downloads.html). A MS Word template for the preparation of camera-ready manuscript can be downloaded (Manuscript Template). The length of contributed manuscripts is limited to 6 pages, the invited papers are limited to 9 pages. Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed. Should the papers contain figures or tables taken from other sources, it is taken for granted that the authors have solicited the respective permissions for reproduction from the corresponding publishers.
By submitting the manuscript for publication, the authors transfer the copyright of their manuscripts to Trans Tech Publications.
Authors will receive free online "author access" via their email address (as it appears in the paper) and from us supplied password. Via this access they will be able to download their papers as PDF and order reprints online. In addition participants will receive full online access and a hard copy of the entire proceedings.
The manuscripts in MS Word format have to be e-mailed as an attachment to patricia.lazpita@ehu.es Manuscript submission deadline is June 1, 2009.
