Spanish Relativity Meeting - ERE 2009
The Spanish Relativity Meeting 2009 (ERE2009) will be organised by the Department of Theoretical Physics and History of Science of the Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) and will take place from the 7th to 11th September, 2009 at the Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales, UPV/EHU in Bilbao (Basque Country, Spain).
The Spanish Relativity Meetings/Encuentros Relativistas Españoles (ERE) are international scientific meetings on Relativity, Gravitation, Relativistic Astrophysics and Cosmology, organised by Spanish groups working in these areas every year. At present they are supported by the Spanish Society of Gravitation and Relativity (SEGRE), but their history dates back to 1977. The conference is nowadays a relevant international event in this field, having maintained their original relaxed atmosphere.
The primary objective of the ERE is to promote contacts between groups of experts on all topics of Relativity and Gravitation. Special attention is given to young researchers in order to help them acquire a broad vision of the field while they can communicate their own results.
The Spanish Relativity Meeting ERE2009 will aim at the general field of Gravitation in a wide sense. Thence the title:
Gravitation in the Large
The ERE2009 has an excellent panel of invited speakers covering four fields that are gathering enormous interest and activity:
- Quantum and thermodynamical effects in Gravity
- Modern Cosmology
- Numerical Relativity
- Black holes
Participants are encouraged to send their contributions to this conference. Contributed talks will be grouped according to their topic and scheduled either in longer morning talks or in two parallel sessions in the afternoon. See Abstract Submission (closed now!) and Programme (now available) for more details.
Chusfest
The morning session of Wednesday the 9th of September will host a very special event, entitled Chusfest, in honour of Prof. Jesús "Chus" Martín to celebrate his 65th birthday. This morning session will be set up as independent --but complementary-- of the ERE2009, so that people wishing to attend the Chusfest do not need to register for ERE2009. Please follow the entry in the Main Menu for further information on the event.
