“Our Conference Theme: Music Pædeia: From Ancient Greek Philosophers Toward Global Music Communities, links today with Ancient Greece and will give a great opportunity to everyone to be expressed in their own, distinctive way, by also connecting the past with the present and the future. The host and local organizer of the 2012 ISME World Conference on Music Education, the Greek Society for Music Education, was founded in March 1997. It is a non-profit, scientific organization, with the main purpose of promoting music education and of developing it further as a field of scientific enquiry. G.S.M.E. collaborates with other societies that work on the same purpose in Europe and in the other continents and has been closely working with ISME from the beginnings as an ISME National Affiliated Organization since 1998. La importancia de la investigación educativa musical se hace más evidente que nunca si queremos hacer frente al reto que nos plantea la adecuación de títulos y programas al marco Europeo de Educación Superior. Por otra parte, la Comisión de Investigación de la Society for Music Education (ISME) a lo largo de los veintidós seminarios organizados en diferentes países, profundiza sobre los aspectos metodológicos de la investigación con el fin de posibilitar el logro de resultados más significativos, desde la convicción de que fomentar la investigación es una manera de mejorar la educación musical.
Bajo estas premisas se presenta el Seminario Internacional de Investigación en Educación Musical. Nace de la colaboración y el trabajo en equipo de varias organizaciones e instituciones, y se celebrará en la Facultad de Educación de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid los días 24, 25 y 26 de junio de 2010. El Seminario pretende ser un lugar de encuentro y un foro de opinión, intercambio y difusión de trabajos cualificados que se están llevando a cabo por los profesionales de música de los diferentes ámbitos educativos.

ISME World Conference 2010: Welcome
Important Information
The ISME World Conference in Beijing will cover every possible aspect of music education and learning. International specialists in music education and performers from many countries will be there. There will, of course, be many Chinese music educators and much Chinese music will be performed. This conference has every chance to become of significant importance for highlighting music education in China and the world.
An ISME World Conference is more like a fair than a conventional conference: there are paper presentations but also many round-table symposia and above all there are large sections of workshops, class lesson demonstrations, concerts and an exhibition of instruments or teaching materials.
The presenters of these different activities are music educators of all possible contexts and levels from all over the world. Many of these forms of presentation can be understood in spite of language differences. So this is not the kind of conference you go to only to present something. Being there and taking part of the activities is rewarding in itself and essential for the music educator’s own professional development.
