Aims and Scope

Since it was founded more than twenty years ago, Cuadernos de Gestión has consistently published articles combining scientific accuracy with useful proposals and prescriptions for improvements in business management. This combination makes a perfect match for the mission of the journal's founding body, the Instituted of Applied Business Economics at the UPV/EHU (University of The Basque Country), which works to put Business Science at the service of society, by closing the gap between the business and the academic worlds and facilitating greater mutual understanding. This is a purpose also shared by the Department of Economy & Business at La Universidad de la Rioja.

Cuadernos de Gestión aims to publish articles combining correct scientific approaches and practical applications for business management. Articles will be accepted from the academic world, provided they are written in such a way as to be useful to business, and from business professionals who set out and discuss their knowledge with the kind of intellectual rigour acceptable in academic circles.

So the journal seeks to provide academics and business managers with a medium for informing society of the results of their research and experiences in management, in the broad sense of the term. For preference, accepted articles will concentrate on business finance, marketing and organization; however, it is also open to work done in other fields, provided they make a significant contribution to the study and clarification of problems in business management. Empirical and theoretical articles alike will be published, together with case studies of companies providing useful knowledge about business practice.

To ensure the above is not just a declaration of intent, we have created a management and control structure for the journal to guarantee required standards are constantly maintained.

In addition to the academic journal's standard Scientific Committee , which supervises the publication to guard against deviations from scientific methodology, and which in our case comprises six university chairs of recognised prestige in Business Organization, Finances and Marketing, we also have a Business Assessment Committee , involving a number of leading business professionals with long experience and executive management responsibilities, which will ensure the journal is genuinely useful for business management.

Furthermore, all articles accepted will be doubly appraised prior to publication by leading academics in the subject and business professionals working in areas linked to the theme of the article in question and, where appropriate, by methodological advisors. The journal's Editorial Board decision on acceptance is final, and will always be based on favourable reports from the anonymous referees.

We trust you find these editorial principles to your satisfaction and are completely confident that the measures outlined above will guarantee the standards and usefulness of the articles published.

We also encourage our readers to take an active part in this new phase of Cuadernos de Gestión , by sending any suggestions for improvements and, of course, their scientific contributions on business management.
