About the meeting

In recent years, the view of the universe has changed dramatically due to the emergence of the brane world scenario, which is strongly rooted in string theory ideas. According to this proposal, we might be living on a hypersurface (brane) embedded in a bulk spacetime with more than three spatial dimensions. The cosmological consequences of this scenario have been actively studied from two different perspectives. While some have taken the path of string theory derived models, in which the high energy phenomenology is important, some others have looked at the problem in the fashion of main-stream cosmology.
Hopefully, insights gained from these two different approaches will contribute constructively, and will set foundations for making the most of future empirical and theoretical developments in the subject.

Useful information

There is a bus line that connects Sondica Airport in Bilbao with Bilbao city center (Plaza Moyúa, near the Carlton Hotel). A ticket costs around 0,90 €. The timetable for Bilbao-bound buses is:
Monday-Friday: 6:45 to 22:45, every 30 minutes
Saturdays, Sunday and holidays: 06:30 to 22:30, every 60 minutes

This bus line also stops on the way at Parque Etxebarría and Calle Enrique Ibarrieta. The ride is about 30 minutes. The participants will be hosted in the Residencia Miguel de Unamuno. In order to get to the residence when the participants will stay, it is advisable to take the subway. Either Line 1 to Plentzia or Line 2 to Urbinaga will take you there. Get off at "Sarriko" (4 subway stops). When you leave the station, turn right and walk straight down (there should be a big open air parking place on your right). Cross at the traffic lights and the residence is the second building on the right (Avenida Lehendakari Aguirre, 140).

You can reach the campus by bus line A2314. Buses stop just in front of the residence every half an hour. Tickets cost approximately 1 euro, but there are discount cards (CREDITRANS) that can also be used on the tube.
