Are quasicrystal almost periodic patterns?

The Nobel prize in Chemistry 2011 was awarded to Dan
Shechtman "for the discovery of quasicrystals". We will first admire a
few quasicrystals and then raise a fundamental issue: "Are
quasicrystal almost periodic patterns?" Almost periodicity needs to be
defined properly and the answer is left as a surprise.
