Phase-Field Models for Solid-Solid Phase Transitions Driven by Configurational Forces

Two new kinds of phase-field models, proposed recently by Alber and Zhu, for solid-solid phase transitions driven by material forces will be reviewed. Their applications include martensitic phase transformations in, e.g., shape memory alloys, and the process of sintering in, e.g., ceramic producing. As an example the formulation of the non-conserved model is briefly presented, then a mathematical result on global solvability via viscosity solutions for this model is stated
