In this talk we will consider the problem of the existence of knotted and linked trajectories in steady fluids. More precisely, we will prove that, given any locally finite link, we can transform it by a small diffeomorphism so that its transformed image is a set of periodic stream lines (or vorticity lines) of a steady solution of the incompressible Euler equation in R^3. This is based on joint work with D. Peralta-Salas (Ann. of Math., 2012).
