“Materials + Technologies” group was created in 1988 by Dr. Iñaki B. Mondragon Egaña. It takes the materials development as objective for diverse applications related to different fields like aeronautics, energy, electronics, transport, wood and paper, between others. Investigations are faced to the design of the macroscopic behaviour of materials from the morphology at nanoscale, and include aspects as functionalization, control of interfaces and self-assembling. Works are focused on composites of polymeric matrix, synthetic and natural, as well as nanostructured materials (nanoparticles and nanofibres) looking for the improvement in thermal, electrical, and mechanical properties (fibres and carbon nanotubes), as well as for the development of biodegradable products (biopolymers, wood and natural fibres), and for specific surface characteristics (coatings).
